Service Description

Ready to trade your silks for a seat or your lyra for a wheel? Join us for a one-of-a-kind Unicycle Workshop designed just for aerialists! This all-levels workshop is the perfect chance to challenge your balance, coordination, and core strength in a totally new way. Whether you’ve never touched a unicycle or have tried it once and wobbled away laughing, this class is all about having fun, trying something different, and stepping (or rolling!) outside your comfort zone. We’ll break things down step-by-step, with games, drills, and lots of laughter as you explore a whole new kind of movement. No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity, sense of humor, and a willingness to fall (and get back up)! Who knows—you might just discover your next on-the-ground obsession. Prerequisites: Ability to pedal and use at least one arm Monroe Hanson (they/them) is a nonbinary aerialist, figure skater, unicyclist, and circus performer. Monroe was introduced to circus at 9 years old when they started learning how to unicycle from a retired-clown PE teacher. Their aerial journey began in 2021 and they have been teaching beginning aerial silks and flexibility classes at The Last Carnival circus school in Lawrence, KS since 2023. Monroe is also an ice skating coach at Kansas City Ice Center, and a local activist with Trans Lawrence Coalition. Monroe specializes in helping individuals with hypermobile joints build strength and stability. Their favorite things about coaching circus and skating are: sharing their love for the activity, breaking down the "impossible" to meet students where they are at, and helping students achieve more than they ever thought they could.
